“Picnicking” @ White River. “Where’d we stash the scuba gear?”

White River. (What else would you call water like this?)

Sam, enjoying the eye-opening effects of 38-degree mist.

Josiah: "Are we having fun yet?"

“What a difference a day makes.” 24 hours earlier. (See? We TOLD you Mt. Rainier weather is unpredictable.)

Sourdough Ridge to Frozen Lake: "All part of the adventure!"

The way back – or where we’ve been. Frozen Lake is just out of the frame to the left.
We would’ve taken another photo if we had any feeling left in our fingers at this point.

Sunrise Visitor's Center in "30% chance of showers" weather.
Sunrise
And they’re not kidding. (One reason why we still love the Old Girl even when she pitches a meteorological fit.)
Wow, the snow really didn’t melt this summer at all! Last year when we were up here at Sunrise we thought we were going to die of heatstroke! That was last July. There were no clouds in the sky and like you said, no cover from the elements! I’ll never forget it for the heat… Isn’t that funny? This Friday night we will stay at Paradise Lodge-I guess they close in a few days for the winter. When we went to Paradise at the end of July we could not go hiking anywhere on upper elevations and even at Paradise all the trails were covered by feet of snow! It was warm though. So we’ll see how it is Friday night, it might snow on Friday night! The kids would like that….
Thanks for sharing this funny story!
